CID invites Mornah over alleged ‘threat’ to ‘resist’ new register

The Criminal Investigations Department of the Police Service has invited National chairman of the PNC Bernard Mornah over an alleged threat to resist attempts by the Electoral Commission to compile a new register for the December elections.

A Police invitation sighted by Starrfm.com.gh asked Mr Mornah to report to the CID boss on Tuesday, June 2, 2020.

The statement also noted investigations have begun into some radio commentary by the politician.

Some officials of the NPP have joined the main opposition National Democratic Congress in their stiff opposition to plans of new voters register for the elections. They argue a new register which does not accept the existing voter’s Identity card as proof of identity will disenfranchise a lot of Ghanaians.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission has announced it will begin the compilation of the register by the end of June.
