George Floyd: Ernesto Yeboah granted GHC100k bail

The Circuit Court in Accra presided over by Evelyn Asamoah has granted bail in the sum of GHc100,000 to leader of the Economic Fighters League, Ernesto Yeboah, who was arrested during a George Floyd protest march in Accra.

In addition to the bail sum, he is to produce three sureties, two of whom to be public servants.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charge of failing to notify police duly before organizing a public event.

He was arrested by security operatives at the Black Star Square in Accra last week Saturday for organizing a vigil against police brutalities against Blacks in America in wake of George Floyd murder.

The prosecution informed the court that the accused person had gathered about 200 persons to stage a protest in support of the Black Lives Matter movement in America.

But when the police moved in to inquire if he had secured a permit, they found out through interrogation that he had none and was arrested as the leader and organizer of the group.

The case has been adjourned to July 7, 2020.
