Bar Association Donates PPEs to Judicial Service

The Ghana Bar Association has donated Personal Protective Equipment ( PPEs) to the Judicial Service of Ghana to help the third arm of Government as it plays its part in the collective effort of the country aimed at stopping the spread of the novel Coronavirus, Covid-19.

President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), Anthony Forson, in a brief statement before handing over the items to the Chief Justice, Justice Anin Yeboah, at a ceremony held at the forecourt of the office complex of the Judiciary noted that Covid-19 has come to stay with us and since the Judicial is the key partner of the Bar in the Justice delivery system, it was imperative that the Judiciary is assisted in her efforts to stop the spread of Covid-19.

Chief Justice

Chief Justice Anin Yeboah, after receiving the items registered the sincere appreciation of the Judicial Service to the Ghana Bar Association for their kind gesture. He observed that being the third arm of government, it is difficult for the judiciary to receive donations from just anybody since there is likely to be a conflict of interest situation should the donating company or individual have a case before any Court.

“With this donation coming from, the Bar, it is safe because if the judge adjudicates a matter against a lawyer, he knows that the judge is just doing his job” the Chief Justice, Justice Anin Yeboah said.

Items Donated

In all, the Bar presented Veronica backets, hand sanitizers, tissue paper, noise masks, temperature guns, among others. According to the Bar President, the PPEs presented are worth thirty thousand Ghana cedis (GHc 30,000.00).
