Some two lecturers of the Koforidua Technical University have received letters of apology from one Bismark Agbelengor for “wrongly” including their names in a petition sent to the Chair of the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) by about 101 lecturers, calling on Jean Mensa to reconsider the decision to compile a new register for the December 7 elections.
The two are Professor Smile Dzisi and Dr Benjamin Kwofie.
The latter had written to the Vice Chancellor of the Koforidua Technical University, denying knowledge of the group, Concerned University Lecturers, Ghana, and the content of the letter sent to Mrs Mensa.
Dr Kwofie asked the VC to investigate the matter and write to the Chair of the Commission, “disassociating the institution and its innocent members from such an action”.
Mr Agbelengor, who admitted adding the names of the lecturers to the list, rendered an apology for his action.
“I recognize that my failure to seek your prior approval was a grievous omission even though it was completely unintended.
“I regret, very deeply, any harm that may have been caused to your personal and professional being by this omission on my part.
“For this reason, I apologise unreservedly for the error.”
