AN ADDRESS ON ATTACK ON NDC BRANCH CHAIRMAN BY NPP NATIONAL SECURITY OFFICER AT ASSIN AKROPONG

Good morning distinguished friends from the media. We have invited you her this morning to address the physical assault on Matthew Acquah Ampong ( alias Oko ) who is the branch chairman of NDC in Assin Akropong. The assault was meted out to him by one kojo Amankwa, who is an NPP activist and claim to be a National Security Officer.

Ladies and gentlemen, the crime of our branch Chairman was that, he exposed the lies peddled by the vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on the delivery tracker that there is ongoing road construction on the Brofoyedru – Akropong – Oda road ( 15km ).

This exposè did not go down well with Mr. Kojo Amankwa. Therefore, he verbally abused our branch Chairman and slapped him in the process. Our branch Chairman was rescued by neighbours around.

Our branch Chairman left the scene and proceeded home. Mr. Kojo Amankwa followed our branch Chairman with a motorbike and physically assaulted him in the middle of the road leaving him with bruises and severe body pains.

Our branch Chairman has since lodged an official complaint with the Akropong police. He has also been given police forms for medical examination.

Ladies and gentlemen, as we speak, the so called National Security Officer who brutalized our branch Chairman is walking freely and yet to be arrested by the police.

Friends from the media, NDC is a law-abiding party. We shall therefore not take the laws into our hands and retaliate. Our flag bearer, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the incoming president and our parliamentary candidate Nurein Shaibu Migyimah, the incoming Mp of Assin Central are peace-loving leaders and symbol of development.

That Notwithstanding, let no one presume we are cowards. NO! we are Never.
We will continue to keep the government in checks and expose the lies told by our leaders.

Friends from the media, ladies and gentlemen, did we withness any ongoing road construction activities on our way to Akropong? The answer is a big NO.

This is not the only lie told by Dr. Bawumia and NPP government headed by president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo – Addo .
Other lies peddled by the vice president among other things includes;

1. Assin Dompim road ( 8km ) was captured as completed but we all know it’s a big lie.

2. The Assin Foso bypass ( 5km ) was also captured as ongoing, yet we all know that the project is abandoned due to lack of funds.

3. The 13km ongoing Foso Township road does not exist.

Ladies and gentlemen, the good people of Assin Central deserve better.

His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has promised to immediately fix the Brofoyedru – Akropong – Oda road when he assumes office next year. The incoming Mp of Assin Central Nurein Shaibu Migyimah will facilitate the speedy construction of the road which today has led to the assault on innocent citizens.

We are aware of the numerous demonstration and petitions to get the road fixed by chiefs and people of Akropong but to no avail.

We wish to commend the police and also entreat them to be professional especially during the electioneering period.

If people act with impunity and left off the hook, it emboldened others to do same and more. This phenomenon, if not quickly checked could destroy the peace and harmony we have enjoyed over the years.

We therefore call for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Mr. Kojo Amankwa to serve as a deterrent to others.
