The flagbearer of the biggest opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has said he and his party members are not perturbed about the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government clandestinely implementing some of their polices in their manifesto.
According to Mr Mahama, the NPP implementing the NDC’s manifesto promises shows how important and valuable the manifesto is to Ghanaians.
Speaking on Elmina-based Benya FM during his campaign tour in the Central Region (CR), the former president wondered why the NPP which launched its manifesto weeks before the NDC’s, has never been heard speaking about their manifesto but always discussing the NDC’s. This according to him means the NPP’s manifesto is empty.
“It marvels me that they {NPP} don’t talk about their own manifesto…..meanwhile they launched their’s a week or two before we launched ours,” Mr Mahama opined.
He moreover added that, “the NPP should feel free to implement them. They should not feel shy at all; they should go ahead because this shows that our manifesto is a good manifesto so they should go ahead because God willing the rightful owner of the manifesto is coming to take over on 7th January {2021}.”
The NDC’s manifesto titled “The People’s Manifesto” has, ever since it was launched, become talk of the town with some, especially the NDC believing that the government has initiated implementing some of them.
Amongst the promises of the NDC which the government is believed to be implementing are the payment of the locked up funds of the depositors of the collapsed savings and loans and the legalization of motorbicycle for commercial purpose known as okada, which the transport minister hinted that government had been engaging stakeholders for possible legalisation.
