Volta NPP demonstrate against Letsa’s nomination as Minister-designate

Hundreds of disgruntled party folks of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Volta Region have called on President Nana Akufo-Addo to reconsider the re-appointment of Dr Archibald Yao Letsa as the Volta Regional Minister.

Presenting a petition to the party’s regional leader after a street protest in Ho earlier this morning, the group noted that the appointment of Dr Letsa yet again would be a setback to the party’s vision and efforts to win the hearts of the people of the Volta region.

The group also accused Dr Letsa of mismanagement, lack of leadership having served between 2017 to 2020.

Meanwhile, Municipal and District Chief Executives in the Volta Region have backed the nomination.

In a press release issued signed by Edmund Kudjoe Attah, the outgoing DCE for North Dayi and the Dean of MMDCEs in Volta, the Chief Executives expressed their confidence in Dr Letsa’s re-appointment by the President and called for dialogue to address the concerns of the aggrieved members.

The statement also described Dr. Letsa as hardworking, whose tenure saw effective running of government’s business in the region.

“It must be stated that the Hon Dr Archibald Letsa has and will remain a party steward of many years standing who has worked diligently and won the admiration of many people from all works of life in the region and even out of the region. Under his leadership, we have witnessed massive developmental projects across all districts of the region,” the statement read.
