Central Regional Minister Marygold Assan has indicated that a contractor has been assigned to work on the construction of an ultra-modern market complex in Mankessim.
The regional minister made this known when she paid a working visit to the area together with the Member of Parliament for the Mfantseman constituency, Ophelia Hayford, to commiserate with the victims of two recent separate fire disasters that destroyed close to 100 shops.
She indicated that the new market complex, when completed, will have fire hydrants and a fire station with a well-planned layout to avert future fire outbreaks.
While assuring the victims of the government’s support to reconstruct the market, the minster called on the traders to take precaution when dealing with fire or inflammable material.
The Mfanteman MP also urged occupants of the market to cooperate with the assigned contractor when the project starts.
According to her, the new market project is for the good of all, hence, they should not oppose it when they are asked to relocate.
