Songstress iOna Reine is hoping to make her followers proud by beating top acts like King Promise, Kofi Kinaata, Stonebwoy and Akwaboah among others at the upcoming Ghana Music Awards, USA.
iOna’s single, ‘Obra’ has been nominated for highlife song of the year at the 2021 edition of Ghana Music Awards, USA.
She has in the past year generated a considerable buzz with the song, hence the recognition by the scheme. The song was off iOna EP released last year.
She hopes the song will win the category which has other competing songs like ‘Behind the Scenes’ by Kofi Kinaata, ‘Sisa’ by King Promise, ‘Asa Bone’ by Lord Paper featuring Bosom P-Yung, ‘1997’ by Dr Ray featuring Yaa Pono, ‘Party’ by Sista Afia featuring Fameye, ‘Sobolo’ by Stonebwoy, ‘Posti Mi’ by Akwaboah, ‘Okomfour Kwadee’ by Fameye, and ‘Yawa No Dey’ by Kelvyn Boy featuring M.anifest.
The second edition of the awards scheme organised by Don’s Music Production in partnership with Highlife Media USA focuses on “encouraging and recognising Ghanaian musicians in the diaspora, especially in the US to actively participate in promoting and celebrating Ghana music.”
The awards ceremony will come off in August this year.
iOna Reine has become a household name after the release of ‘Obra’, which has since been making waves on all streaming platforms.
