Emmanuel Gyamfi’s charge is a calculated attempt by GFA to favor Hearts of Oak – Kotoko NCC Published on: 17 June 2021

Asante Kotoko National Circles Council (NCC) have accused the Ghana Football Association of favoring Hearts of Oak in the tight league title race.

With five games to conclude what has been a compelling season, the two giants have the same points, 53 and will face each other in Accra next weekend.

That clash is considered as the title decider, and ahead of the match, Kotoko are in danger of not having their captain available for selection.

Emmanuel Gyamfi has been charged with misconduct after television cameras captured him stamping on the foot of an Inter Allies player.

The incident happened on Monday during Kotoko’s thrilling 3-2 victory in Dawu against the relegation-threatened side Andy Okpe

Gyamfi has until close of work Friday to respond to the charge, after which he will know his fate.

The situation has left Kotoko fans in fear that Gyamfi who has been one of their best players could be suspended and miss the game against Hearts of Oak.

According to the club’s NCC public relations officer Alexander Osei Owusu, the GFA are in bed with Hearts of Oak, who have not won the league in over a decade.

“This is a calculated attempt by the FA only to favor Hearts of Oak and distract Kotoko from winning the league,” he said on Kumasi FM.

We will soon issue a Statement calling on the Presidency of Ghana to know that the May 9th disaster could occur once again and we will force our management to boycott the league if they insist on punishing Gyamfi without dealing with other offenders,” he added.

Hearts of Oak and Kotoko face off on June 27 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
