The Ellembelle Public Health and Emergency Committee, has called on residents in Ellembelle district of the Western region to adhere strictly to the Covid-19 prevention protocols to ensure their safety.
The district chief executive for Ellembelle who also doubles as the Chairman of the Ellembelle Public Health Emergency Committee, hon Kwasi Bonzoh made the call in a media interview during the Emergency Health Committee meeting on Wednesday at Nkroful.
The Ellembelle Public Emergency Health Committee is tasked to intensify a rigorous crusade of public awareness on the Covid-19 protocols and enforce the Covid-19 restriction laws to help mitigate the spreed of the virus.
The DCE told New Day FM journalist _Kaakyire Kwasi Afari_ that the district had recorded 10 Covid-19 cases with no life lost so far.
He appealed to the public to observe the safety protocols, and encouraged market traders and residents to continue educating each other on the best practices relating to social distancing, regular hand washing, wearing of nose masks and using hand sanitizers.
Hon. Kwasi Bonzoh mentioned that Ghana is currently facing a third wave of coronavirus infections driven by the more transmissible delta variant.
Hon Bonzoh revealed to the media that he has also instructed the security services on the committee to enforce strict adherence to the Covid-19 prevention protocols to curb rising infections.
The Media, the National Disaster Management Organization, NCCE, Ghana Health Services, Ghana Immigration Service and other government institutions in Ellembelle are also charged to beef-up their campaign in the fight against the pandemic.
The DCE indicated that the Assembly was looking at appropriate ways to ensure strict compliance to the protocols, so as to bring sanity in the district.
The Ellembelle Divisional Police Crime Officer Supretendent Prosper Agbabo on his part, has cautioned the residents to make sure that they adhere to the Covid-19 protocols in the district.
He warned that offenders would be dealt with in accordance with the law to compel others to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 protocols.
