Beverly Afaglo has called off donations being made to aid her and family resettlement after losing her Tema Community 9 home in a fire outbreak.
According to her, she has asked fellow actress Yvonne Nelson and other friends who opened GoFundMe account on her behalf to also end the campaign. Same applies with Nana Ama Mcbrown who has also been asking people to support her with MTN mobile money transfer.
“GofundMe and Momo donations ends now. Thank u to all my celebrity friends who supported this. Am sorry because of me, people insulted u and called u all names. Pls forgive me. God will meet u at the point of ur (your) needs. God bless u (you),” she wrote on Instagram on Monday.
Some Ghanaians have since last week been leading a troll campaign to frustrate the GoFundMe donation to help Beverly.
They claimed Beverly had once said in a video that she was not broke hence their decision.
According to Beverly, she decided to end the donations because of the backlash she has been receiving since the call for support started.
“The moment Yvonne posted a picture of myself and the GoFundMe artworks, there were trolls all round from every corner. Then a video came up. I want to backtrack to that video. I am not mad. I won’t wake up and start ranting.
“I am not foolish. Any discerning human being should listen to that video and see if I was wrong.
Go back and play that video and you’ll realize I never used the word rich. I only said I’m not broke and I can never be broke in Jesus’s name.
“I’m not homeless. I didn’t lie when I said I had tenants. The GofundMe and Momo have been called off today. I have told Yvonne to call it off.
Thanks to all those who supported me. God bless u and replenish your pockets,” she also said in a live video on Instagram.
She revealed an amount of $1,800 has so far been realized out of a target of US$20,000.
Indeed Yvonne Nelson has deleted her post on the GofundMe on her Instagram as well as Nana Ama who ended her call for Momo.
