The Medical Superintendent of the Ejura Government Hospital, Dr. Emmanuel Mensah Manye has been transferred to Abuakwa Health Centre at Kumasi in the Ashanti region as the Medical Superintendent.
It is believed that his transfer follows his appearance before the Justice Koomson led three-member Committee that investigated the Ejura shootings.
Some have said the testimony given by the Doctor contradicted the claims made by senior military officers who appeared before the committee to give evidence suggesting that the two demonstrators who were killed could have been shot by their fellow demonstrators and not soldiers who were deployed to quell the disturbances.
His transfer has been viewed by a section of the public as a punishment and a ‘demotion’.
Dr. Mensah Manye confirmed his transfer to Kasapa News, adding that he’s expected to resume work at the Abuakwa Health center by tomorrow, Tuesday.
The 2020 Flagbearer of the opposition of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama made the transfer of Dr. Manye public while speaking at Ejura on Sunday as part of his ‘Thank You Tour’ of the Ashanti Region.
The former President slammed the Akufo-Addo government over the move accusing it of being vindictive, adding that noted that the transfer of Dr. Manye offends good governance.
“I’m informed that the Medical Superintendent of Ejura Government Hospital has been transferred to a Health Centre as a way of punishing him after testifying before the committee that probed the Ejura killings. I just hope that he’s not being punished because of what he told the committee. Such things are the reason why we are not moving forward as a country. This offends good governance and makes our country retrogress.”
