South Africa appeal to FIFA over Black Stars defeat

The South Africa Football Association has revealed their intentions of filing a complaint to FIFA and CAF for a rematch of 1-0 loss to Ghana in Cape Coast on Sunday.

The Black Stars won the game by a goal from Captain Andre Ayew in the 33rd minute by a penalty sending Ghana into the play off.

According to Chief Executive officer of SAFA, Tebogo Motlanthe, there were many infractions on the parts of the referee and his officials.

As a result, SAFA will involve the services of an expert to gather all the necessary evidence to make a stronger case with their complaint.

In 2017, FIFA ordered a replay of the 2018 World Cup Qualifier between South Africa and Senegal after referee Joseph Lamptey was found guilty for awarding a non-existent penalty against the Teranga Lions.

However, Tebogo said SAFA will officially address journalists in South Africa on Wednesday after all their boxes have been ticked and of course submit a full complaint which is supported by all the evidence which was there to say that game either it was manipulated or the referee had done something wrong before the game.

“We will be having a press conference soon and be telling the nation what will happen going forward.”
