NPP’s budget names’ve been a curse than blessing – JOY

An independent presidential candidate for the 2012 and 2016 presidential elections has berated the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the empty names it has propounded for the budget and policy statement delivered to parliament over the years.

Mr Jacob Osei Yeboah (JOY) said the various names that Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and his cohorts in parliament have been giving to the budget statements read since 2017, have all been empty.

He said the names have not yielded any results in terms of alleviating the suffering of Ghanaians.

Mr Jacob Osei Yeboah made this comment in reaction to the rejection of the 2022 budget statement presented to parliament on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.

He said the names of the budgets have rather compounded the problems Ghanaians are going through under this administration.

He said the various names propounded by the NPP after the delivery of every budget to parliament in the country has not resulted in anything in terms of bettering the lives of Ghanaians.

Mr Yeboah took issue with the NPP’s budget names in an interview with Kwame Appiah Kubi on the ‘Ghana Yensom’ morning show on Accra 100.5 FM on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.

“Since 2017, the NPP has propounded various names likes “Obataampa” budget, to wit “good mother,” “Won ya wo hie’, to wit “we are moving forward”; “Agyenkwa” budget, to wit “saviour” among others to no avail.

He said these names in Ghanaian languages mean well but ended up bringing more suffering onto Ghanaians under the watch of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“All these names have not been supported with workable plans that will bring hope to Ghanaians,” he said.
