Kordzi and Afriyie strike as Hearts of Oak beat Accra Lions

Second-half goals from Kofi Kordzi and Daniel Afriyie secured Hearts of Oak their second consecutive win in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

The Phobians beat Accra Lions 2-0 at the Cape Coast Stadium as they continued their revival.

Despite their dominance in the first half, Hearts couldn’t score with Afriyie missing a good opportunity after receiving a pass from Gladson Awako who was making his first start.

Hearts continued to press after recess and this time they were clinical. Substitute Kwadwo Obeng Jr assisted Kordzi to open the scoring in the 61st minute.

Six minutes later, it was two nil thanks to Afriyie who on Friday night was adjudged Home-based Footballer of the Year at SWAG Awards.

Kordzi was denied a second from a free-kick by Lions goalkeeper Fredrick Asare.

Hearts are now 12th with nine points. They have three outstanding games, including the Super Clash against Kotoko.

Accra Lions are one point above the relegation zone following a third consecutive game without victory.
