First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo has applauded 10-year-old N’Adom Aboagyewaa Darko-Asare, a 5th grader at DPS International School, for winning the 2022 Spelling Bee competition.
“She exhibited sheer brilliance and calm determination to emerge champion,” Mrs Akufo-Addo said in a statement.
Ms Darko-Asare spelt the word, “BATHYPELAGIC” to emerge the champion in this year’s event to beat the First runner-up Nii Odartey Elorm Manyo-Plange from The Roman Ridge School Accra and the second runner-up Aarna Bhaveshkumar Tailor of DPS International School.
Mrs Akufo-Addo commended the organisers Young Educators Foundation, facilitators, teachers, guardians and sponsors, for the educative programme.
She encouraged parents and schools to invest time and resources to enable more children participate in competitive brain activities.
She wished Ms Darko-Asare all the best at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in the United States, as Ghana’s representative and prayed she brings victory to Ghana and the African continent.
