We’ll expel Fomena NPP office painting gang – John Boadu

The General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr John Boadu, has stated that the party has instituted an internal investigative process into the Fomena Constituency disturbances in the Ashanti Region which resulted in some supporters painting the office in the colours of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr Boadu said anyone found culpable shall be disciplined in accordance with the party’s regulations.

According to him, the party takes a serious view of the “reprehensible” misconduct which is an affront to the very dignity and existence of the NPP.

Mr Boadu said the party will take immediate steps to expel all the culprits behind the disturbances.

Addressing the media at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Thursday 10, 2022, Mr Boadu stressed that the party has not yet decided on the modalities for holding polling station primaries in Fomena and the other nine constituencies where polling station primaries were suspended owing to one reason or the other.

He added that in Fomena, the party is yet to take a decision on the dates for nomination, vetting, publication of vetting results and holding of polling station elections.

“The party takes a serious view of this gross misconduct which is not only reprehensible but an affront to the very dignity and existence of the party”.

“Accordingly, the party is taking immediate steps to expel all the persons behind this ungodly act, of course through due process,” Mr Boadu told journalists.

“In announcing the rules and regulations for the polling station executive elections, we suspended about 10 constituencies, including Fomena, so, we have not yet opened nomination”, he clarified.

“The party is yet to take a decision on the date of opening nomination, date of vetting, date of publication of vetting results and date of holding the election in that constituencies; this will be done and communicated in due course”, he added.

He said “the party certainly, did not and could not have sent nomination forms to Fomena for the conduct of the elections, let alone to have handed all such forms to the independent MP [Mr Asiamah] as alleged.”
