Okocha confident of Nigeria victory over Ghana in Abuja

Nigeria icon Jay-Jay Okocha believes the Super Eagles will qualify for the World Cup finals by defeating their West African rivals Ghana on Tuesday.

Okocha praised the Eagles’ performance in the first leg, which saw them hold Ghana to a 0-0 draw at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Nigeria did not have the majority of possession or shots, but they did create the best chance and had a penalty ruled out by VAR.

Nigeria must win the second leg at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja to qualify for Qatar.

Ghana, on the other hand, need a win or a scoring draw to qualify for their fourth World Cup after missing out on the previous edition in Russia.

Ahead of the game, Okocha, who has been a member of three Nigeria World Cup squads, believes the Super Eagles of Nigeria have a stronger chance of qualifying for the tournament.

“We could not separate both teams because nobody wanted to lose the game.

“We must give credit to the players considering the fact that they have given themselves a good chance of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup,” Okocha said on SuperSport.

Confederation of African Football on Sunday approved the Nigeria Football Federation’s request to admit 60,000 spectators for the game.
