We're hale, hearty a year after COVID jab; go get vaccinated – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said he and his wife, Rebecca, are still healthy a year after taking the COVID-19 vaccine, and has, thus, urged Ghanaians who have not yet been vaccinated to do so.

Demystifying the conspiracy surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine by some groups of persons that taking the jab will cause one to be ill, impotent among others, President Akufo-Addo assured Ghanaians that it was safe to get vaccinated, as those who have already been immunised are still alive and hearty.

Announcing the easing of restrictions imposed on the country following the COVID-19 pandemic on Sunday, 27 March 2022, President Akufo-Addo said: “To my Fellow Ghanaians who have not received the jab, I urge you to take it.”

He added: “To those listening to the propaganda by the conspiracy theorists and those who are still sceptical about the efficacy of the vaccine, it has been a year since my wife and I got vaccinated; it has not disrupted our physical wellbeing, nor has it caused us to be sick.

“We are, touch wood, hale and hearty, like the other 13.1 million Ghanaians who have been vaccinated.”

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo also announced that travellers entering Ghana will no longer be required to take the PCR test before and on arrival into the country.

“From tomorrow, Monday, 28th March, fully vaccinated travellers into Ghana will not take PCR tests from the country of embarkation to allow them entry into the country through the KIA, and will not be tested on arrival,” President Akufo-Addo stated.

Also, “citizens and foreign residents in Ghana, who are not fully vaccinated, would, however, need to provide a negative PCR test result of not more than 48-hours, will undergo an antigen test upon arrival at KIA, and will be offered vaccination there.”
