‘I’m Focused On Growing Ghana’s Music Industry‘

Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie, has set his sights on a tough challenge by declaring his intention to grow the music industry in Ghana.

Widely recognised for his passionate love for music, Sarkodie continues to strive for the best – this time for Ghana’s music to dominate the world.

Touted as the ‘Landlord’ of the Ghanaian music space, the rapper in a recent interview on Y 107.9 FM’s ‘Dryve of Your Lyfe’ revealed that, his next ‘Highest’ is to give back to the music industry.

Sarkodie believes that the music industry needs worldwide dominance and not just about being a “local champion”.

“I think my top focus now is not really about my music but about the industry. Yes, the music has to go worldwide. It still needs worldwide dominance and not just being known at certain places, but you would want to like dominate in some areas,” he stated.

While his music has gained popularity worldwide, Sarkodie is looking to expand the industry to the point where Ghanaian music dominates globally. He sees this as his next ‘high’, and he is working hard to make it a reality.

“I think personally I would and I have been saying this a lot because I’ve been working on that a lot, and that’s the space I’m in, I would want to do something to help the industry itself grow and not just Sarkodie, and that will be my next high that I actually did something to really give back to the industry in general (sic),” he explained.

The Ghanaian rapper has recently been in the trends after his stunning feature on the remake of legendary Bob Marley’s ‘Stir It Up’ song with The Wailers. The song, released two weeks ago, got Ghanaians on chokehold and climbed up to the number one spot on YouTube despite all the negative and mixed reactions it received.
