Bill Gates on Afrobeats: ‘Impressed with’ Davido, Wizkid, my daughter likes Burna Boy, Rema

Business magnate and investor William Henry ‘Bill’ Gates III has visited Nigeria and commended their creative arts industry.

“Of course, being here in Nigeria, I can’t help but mention the amazing creativity that goes on here,” Bill Gates remarked.

“Afrobeats from Nigeria are popular everywhere,” he noted, adding that when his 20-year-old daughter, Phoebe Adele Gates, learned of his trip to Nigeria, she said: “Oh, you’re lucky! You get to go see Burna Boy and Rema!”

Receiving the hint from his daughter, he said, he searched online for who the artistes named were “because I am so hip”.
