Ghanaian musician and producer Nacee, formerly part of the renowned gospel group No Tribe which also included Lord Bondzie, has disclosed in a new interview the challenges he faced during his time with the group and why they split.
Speaking candidly with Rosleyn Feli about the reasons behind his decision to take a break from No Tribe, Nacee revealed that there was a financial strain and misunderstandings that eventually led to his departure.
According to the ‘Aseda’ singer, some of the issues that No Tribe encountered were related to his role as the main financier for the group’s music production.
When called to perform at events, he often had to personally fund expenses and even went the extra mile to ensure that the team’s needs were met, irrespective of their ability to pay. While his intentions were noble, Nacee realized that this approach was not sustainable in the long run, as it depleted his own resources.

He stated, “Some of the problems that No Tribe encountered and for which I had to pull a break were because when No Tribe was called to perform at events, I always had to go and cash out some money because of my music production. At least I had people paying me some money. So I tried and made sure that I could cushion them and make sure everybody is fine even when the person is not able to pay. But it was the wrong decision because I could have used my money for something else.”

Accusations and the Breaking Point:
One significant incident that added to the growing tension within No Tribe was an accusation levelled against Nacee after a particular performance.
A fellow musician who shared the bill with No Tribe had received their payment promptly, but delays occurred in remitting the group’s earnings.
Misunderstandings arose, and Nacee was falsely accused of withholding the money, causing further discord among the members.
Faced with mounting complaints and challenges, Nacee made a difficult decision to take a break from No Tribe.
“When we finished, the money was delayed, and the people thought I had collected the money, but I said I didn’t collect anything. So, what happened was that I gave them money to hold on to until the money comes… Before the money came, there were already problems. Then I said, I’m tired of all the complaints, and if they can’t see anything good in what I do, let’s pull a break,” he disclosed.
He expressed his exhaustion from the constant discontent and the inability of some team members to appreciate his efforts.
Unwavering Compassion Despite Challenges:
Despite the difficulties faced within No Tribe, Nacee remains steadfast in his commitment to helping others.
He expressed his passion for supporting people but acknowledged that human nature often leads to ingratitude.
For Nacee, the act of appreciating someone’s efforts requires a God-fearing heart, which he believes is a rare quality to find in people.
