The Ghana Premier League (GPL) fixtures for the 2023/24 season have been released. The league season is set to kick off on the weekend of Friday, September 15 to Monday, September 18, with matches taking place at various venues across the country.
The much-anticipated first Super Clash between two of Ghana’s most successful clubs, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, is scheduled for matchday 14 and will be held in Accra. This highly anticipated encounter is sure to draw a massive crowd of passionate fans.
Defending champions, Medeama SC will begin their title defence at home against Accra Lions FC. Meanwhile, last year’s runners-up, Aduana FC, will travel to the Nsenkyire Park as guests of FC Samartex.
Newly promoted teams will start the season away from their home grounds, with Heart of Lions FC facing Asante Kotoko SC at the Baba Yara Stadium.
On the opening day of the league, Hearts of Oak will travel to Tamale to take on RTU, while Nsoatreman FC will face Bechem United FC in the first Bono Derby of the new season.
The first round of the season is expected to conclude on December 29, 2023, after which the league will go on a one-month break to accommodate the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
The second round of the season will kick off from February 23 to 26, 2024, with matches being held at the respective venues.
The 2023/24 league season will come to a close on June 15-16, 2024, after the Matchday 34 round of matches.
