Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency Isaac Adongo says he had to wake up to wake his colleagues up while Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta was reading the mid-year budget review in Parliament on Monday, July 31.
He said all those who were shouting ‘Yeah yeah’ were actually sleeping during the presentation.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) made this known after the Finance Minister presented the 2023 budget review.
Mr Ofori-Atta had announced no supplementary budget, but further reviewed the revenue targets and gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate.
The Minority was not enthused by all that.

“We all listened to the funeral dirge,” the Ranking Member on the Finance Committee told journalists.
“At some point, I had to wake up and ask them to wake up from sleep and listen to the man.
“So, when they finally got up and said ‘Yeah Yeah’, they were sleeping. So, I was surprised when they suddenly woke up, they were shouting when they hadn’t heard the man speaking”.
Mr Adongo was hard on the Bank of Ghana over the seeming declining economy “because Bank of Ghana as we speak today, cannot undertake monetary policy without printing money because it doesn’t have money yet you say you have turned the corner”.
But Mr Ofori-Atta insisted in Parliament that the government has turned the corner.
“This ‘turning the corner’ is underpinned by the investments and sacrifices we have
collectively made during this difficult period since March 2020.”
