The transfer was officially confirmed by both clubs on Tuesday.
Salisu has inked a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 side, finalizing a deal reportedly worth around 15 million euros ($16.53 million) for the 24-year-old player.
Mohammed Salisu initially joined Southampton from Real Valladolid in August 2020. During his tenure with Southampton, he featured in nearly 70 Premier League matches until the team faced relegation in the previous season.
Salisu’s outstanding performances did not go unnoticed, and he earned his debut for the Ghana national team in September 2022. His impressive form caught the attention of Ghana’s manager, Otto Addo, who included him in the squad for the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar. Salisu played a pivotal role, starting in all three group games and even scored a goal in Ghana’s sole victory over South Korea.
