Paintsil scores and receives red card in Europa League, Rahman shines for PAOK

Ghana winger Joseph Paintsil played a dual role of triumph and adversity as KRC Genk faced elimination in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers. In Thursday night’s match, Paintsil scored a goal but also received a red card, contributing to Genk’s elimination from the tournament.

Genk will now compete in the Europa Conference after previously switching from the Champions League to the Europa League. They will face Turkish side Adana Demirspor in Conference League’s final qualifying round, with Paintsil expected to miss the first leg due to suspension.

Paintsil has made a strong start to the new season, picking up where he left off last year. Thursday’s goal brought his total goal contributions to three, and he hopes to contribute more in the future.

Also on Thursday, Ghana defender Baba Rahman played a pivotal role in propelling Greek side PAOK to a resounding victory against Hadjuk Split, securing their advancement to the next round of the Europa Conference League play-off round.

Following a goalless draw in the first-leg clash held in Croatia, PAOK seized control in the second leg with an impressive 3-0 triumph.

The left-back’s contribution to the stunning win highlighted his prowess on the field as well as PAOK’s remarkable performance in European competitions this season.
