The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has not yet decided on a location for the Black Stars to camp ahead of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), according to Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Evans Opoku Bobie.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Bobie revealed that the GFA has not submitted any plans regarding the team’s camping arrangements for the tournament, which is scheduled to take place in Ivory Coast from January 13, 2023.
“As I stand before you right now, the FA has not submitted anything and nothing has come before me that indicates that the team is going to camp here or there,” Bobie said.

Black Stars camped in Qatar ahead of the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon. However, with just 37 days remaining until the start of the 2023 tournament, the team’s preparation plans have yet to be finalized.
Bobie emphasised that decisions regarding the team’s camping arrangements fall under the purview of the technical team, stating, “I am not a technical person, we are in charge of policy issues, these are purely technical issues, and when the handlers of the FA bring information, we will interrogate it and bring it to the knowledge of the public.”
Black Stars are set to face record champions Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Verde in the group stage.
