Two-Day Workshop For Musicians Ends

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has held a two-day workshop on “Leveraging Digital Tools to Generate Revenue” to upgrade the skills of its members in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital.

The workshop was organized to encourage members of the union to take advantage of the digital platforms to promote their various musical works.

Organised in partnership with the Ghana Skills Development Fund (GSDF), the workshop was on the theme: “Leveraging Digital Tools for Career Enhancement.”

It featured some of the most seasoned music personalities in Ghana who shared ideas, principles and experiences they have acquired within the music circuit over the years.

The main focus of the workshop was geared towards pushing Ghanaian music beyond the borders of Ghana, and to create a platform to bring together new musicians to explore the future of the music industry.

The speakers at the workshop took participants who were drawn from the Ashanti, Eastern, Bono and Ahafo regions through the process of building and maintaining their brands, the tangibles that will manifest their brands, and the intangibles that will underpin their brands.

These include the quality of their brands and the emotional benefits their listeners and fans can derive from them.

The workshop also enlightened union members about the modern trends in the digital marketing space.

According to newly-elected president of MUSIGA, Bessa Simons, the workshop forms part of the capacity building programmes planned by the national leadership of MUSIGA to improve the capacities of members in particular and musicians, in general, to remain competitive in the ever-changing music industry.
