The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has officially sealed a visa waiver agreement with the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, aimed at easing travel restrictions and enhancing diplomatic relations between the two nations.
In a circular issued by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) on February 20, the rationale behind the agreement was elaborated, with a primary objective to mitigate challenges and inconveniences encountered by uninformed travelers commuting between Ghana and the Bahamas.
The visa waiver arrangement encompasses holders of Diplomatic, Service, and Ordinary Passports, signifying a broad spectrum of beneficiaries poised to benefit from the newfound ease of travel between the two countries.
The circular further indicated that the Government of the Bahamas has expressed its intent to formally inform relevant Ghanaian aviation authorities, airline companies, and related services regarding the signed agreement. Noting the significance of this development, all Officers in Charge (OICs) of entry points and pertinent sections within the immigration service are urged to duly acknowledge this information and undertake necessary actions in compliance with the agreement.
