My rap response to Dremo was not to defend Sarkodie, he can fight his own fight – Lyrical Joe

My rap response to Dremo was not to defend Sarkodie, he can fight his own fight – Lyrical Joe

Ghanian rapper, Lyrical Joe has opened up about his involvement in the rap beef between Ghana’s Sarkodie and Nigeria’s Dremo.

Earlier in May, Sarkodie released his ‘Brag’ song which was part of his main project, “The Championship Mixtape.”

In his song, Sarkodie insisted he was above any competition in Africa comparing himself to the likes of Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole.

He also stated in his song that he was above Nigerian artistes like Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy claiming that he was already on top of his game in the industry before they all rose to fame.

Dremo who also associates with Davido decided to hit back at Sarkodie having been triggered by Sarkodie’s rap punches.

But the ‘Otan’ hitmaker dismissed Dremo’s response only acknowledging his potential. Howver, Lyrical Joe stepped in and responded to Dremo.

His 1960’s reply referencing Nigeria’s year of independence stunned Ghanaians due to his lyrical display in response to Dremo.

Lyrical Joe in an interview explained why he has not released another response to Dremo saying he has not received any order to ceasefire as assumed.

“No one contacted me to ceasefire. I would say it had more to do with the fanbase on and off social media. The joy they had for this whole thing. He [Sarkodie] is a rapper who can stand his own ground. I only came in because it had to do with the rap dialogue in Ghana,” he told 3Xtra’s King Kwaku Mensa.

Lyrical Joe further praised Sarkodie for his immense contribution in the rap industry in Ghana.

“He’s one of the people who is wakening up the rap game too as well. I stepped in to represent the entire genre not that I’m fighting Sarkodie’s fight, he can fight his fight,” he added.
