The Senior Staff Association-Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG), Federation of Senior Staff Association of Ghana (FUSSAG), and Teachers and Educational Workers Union of Trade Union Congress (TEWU-TUC) have served notice of a strike action on June 21.
The unions said they are unhappy with the exclusion of their members from the recent review of the Vehicle Maintenance Allowance (VMA) and other related allowances by the government
This is contained in a statement issued on Tuesday, June 11. The unions argued that their exclusion violates the principles of fairness and natural justice.
They emphasised that they were unjustly left out of the VMA review, which only members of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) stand to benefit.
The unions have therefore urged the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, to address their concern by June 21, 2024, otherwise, they will strike.
The leadership urged their members to remain united as they demand fair treatment.
