Election 2024: ‘NDC is not a viable option; they’re very dangerous’ – Kennedy Agyapong

Election 2024: ‘NDC is not a viable option; they’re very dangerous’ – Kennedy Agyapong

The Member of Parliament for the Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has cautioned Ghanaians not to consider voting for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the forthcoming general election.

According to the businessman, the NDC is not a “viable option”, despite the current economic hardships facing Ghanaians.

He described the NDC as “very dangerous.”

Mr Agyepong made the remarks when he joined Dr Bawumia’s campaign in Kumasi on Tuesday, June 11.

Addressing traders at the Kejetia Market, he encouraged the people of the Ashanti Region to cast their votes for Dr Bawumia, stressing the NPP’s commitment to Ghana’s development.

Also, Mr Agyapong dismissed the assertion that the ruling party has lost touch with the people of the Ashanti region, the party’s supposed stronghold.

He emphasised the enthusiastic reception that the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, received during his recent visit to the region as evidence of the party’s sustained popularity.

“As a businessman and politician, I understand both politics and business. I acknowledge the current hardships, but when you vote, remember that the NDC is not a viable option—they are very dangerous.

“Be cautious. Under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government, we’ve covered fees under Free SHS and even provided uniforms for your children.

“Even in developed countries, governments don’t buy uniforms for students. So, I urge all of you to recognise that even developed countries are facing economic crises. Don’t be deceived by false promises. Remember the NDC’s past governance.”

“Let’s all support Bawumia,” he urged the teeming supporters.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia received an enthusiastic welcome from the residents of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region as he embarked on a three-day campaign tour.

The tour, aimed at consolidating support ahead of the 2024 elections, saw massive crowds gathering to greet the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate.

His visit included meetings with local leaders, community members, and various professional bodies, all of whom expressed strong support for his candidacy.

Dr. Bawumia kicked off his tour with a meeting at the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs, where he discussed his vision for the region and the nation.

The chiefs lauded his efforts to bring development projects to the area, highlighting the significance of the 500-bed Afari Military Hospital and the 250-bed Sewua Hospital.

These projects, once completed, are expected to alleviate the pressure on the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and improve healthcare delivery in the region.
