Election 2024: Curse be unto you if you cause violence or take money to rig elections – Archbishop Duncan-Williams

Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has cautioned against any attempt of rigging and causing violence in the upcoming December polls.

Speaking at Joe Mettle’s Praise Reloaded concert in Accra on June 30, the revered man of God invoked curses on any individual who will perpetuate violence or take bribe in an attempt to change the outcome of the elections.

The Archbishop did not shy away from praying against any such act and persons with such intention.

“Anybody that will take money, receive money to manipulate the outcome of the election, anybody that will do anything to cause the blood of anybody to be shared, to kidnap anybody, to cause any kind of what I call organized armed robbery, to create violence, to cause anybody’s blood to be shed, a curse will come upon you and all your descendants,” he pronounced.

Over the years, elections in Ghana have been marred with violence with no clear justice served on perpetrators and no action taken on recommendations by several committees established to investigate the violence.

Civil Society groups have also lamented the seeming lack of government’s interest in tackling election violence as the phenomenon appears to becoming the order of elections during election period.

Recently, flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama paid a visit to the victims of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election shooting incident.

During his visit, the NDC flagbearer expressed his dissatisfaction with the government’s inaction following the submission of the committee’s report.

John Mahama reiterated his commitment to delivering justice for the victims of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence if elected on December 7, 2024.

Both the NPP and the NDC have assured of a peaceful elections in the December polls.
