NPP’s NEC & National Council to hold emergency meetings on Thursday

The National Executive Committee (NEC) and the National Council (NC) of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be holding separate emergency meetings on Thursday, July 4, the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong has said.

The meetings will be held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.

It is unclear what the agenda of the two meetings will be but it comes at a time when the flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has presented the name of Energy Minister and Manhyia lawmaker Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh as his rung mate for the 2024 general elections.

National Organiser of the NPP Henry Nana Boakye wrote on Facebook on Monday, July 1 that “H.E Bawumia has today, 1st July 2024, formally informed National Officers of the NPP of his nomination of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) as his running mate in the upcoming 2024 General Elections.

“The meeting which occurred at the NPP’s headquarters in Asylum Down follows an earlier presentation of Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s nomination to the majority caucus of Parliament.
“The nomination however, awaits the decision of the National Council which is the final approving organ of the NPP.”
