Manchester United are poised to bolster their midfield with the signing of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Red Devils have agreed to a fee of €50 million (£42.29 million) for the Uruguayan midfielder, with an additional €10 million (£8.46 million) in potential add-ons.
Ugarte, who joined PSG from Sporting Lisbon last year for €60 million, has been a target for United throughout the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old impressed during his time in Paris, making 37 appearances and contributing to the club’s Ligue 1 title win.
The move for Ugarte is contingent on Scott McTominay’s proposed transfer to Napoli.
McTominay is set to undergo a medical in Italy on Tuesday, with a €30 million (£25.37 million) deal expected to be finalised.
While McTominay has been a valuable member of United’s squad, the club’s decision to sell him is influenced by the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations, which incentivize the sale of homegrown players.
Despite his contributions, McTominay faced competition for a starting place under manager Erik ten Hag.
