The organisers of the Ghana Music Awards UK have officially released the nominees list and categories for this year’s edition of the awards at a ceremony held at YAYA La Parisienne in Labone, ahead of the main event on October 19, 2024 in London.
The nominees unveiling ceremony, which was strictly by invitation, was attended by a number of personalities including musicians, and creative arts industry stakeholders, among others.
This year’s awards will honour artistes and their works in various categories, including the coveted Artiste of the Year, Dancehall Artiste of the Year, Hiphop Artiste of the Year, and Hiplife Artiste of the Year, among others.
Now in its eighth year, the scheme, put together by Alordia Promotions and West Coast UK, celebrates outstanding musical feats by Ghanaian musicians, spotlighting and honouring their impact in the UK. The eligibility period is from April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024.
This year’s most nominated acts include Kuami Eugene with 13, Stonebwoy with 12 and Sarkodie with 10.
Artistes nominated for Artiste of the Year category include Black Sherif, King Promise, Kuami Eugene, Nacee, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, and Amerado.
Artistes such as Joseph Matthew, Akubless, Nana Amankwah Tiah, Drogo47, Danny Lampo, Kingsley Rymz, Manni B, and Kay Bryn secured nomination in the UK-based Artiste of the Year category, among others.
Last year, dancehall artiste Shatta Wale emerged as the biggest winner, bagging the Artiste of the Year Award, as well as Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year, Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year and Song of the Year.
Fans and music lovers are encouraged to vote for their favourite nominees in each category, with voting now open until the awards night.
