Samuel Eto’o: Cameroonian football exec banned from attending nat’l games

An order by FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee immediately sees Cameroonian Samuel Eto’o banned from attending matches by his home country’s male and female national football teams across “all categories and age groups”.

Eto’o, 43, is the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT).

An incident during Cameroon’s U20 Women’s World Cup match against Brazil, Wednesday, September 11, 2024, held in Bogota, Colombia, occasioned Eto’o’s six-month FIFA-enforced ban. The match ended 3:1 during extra time, with Brazil winning.

According to FIFA, Eto’o’s behaviour during the said round of 16 match violated Articles 13 (offensive behaviour and violation of the principles of fair play) and 14 (improper conduct by players and officials) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

While details of the offense are not available yet, see FIFA’s official statement of Monday, September 30, here.

Cameroon’s male national team, the Indomitable Lions, host Kenya’s Harambee Stars in a qualification double-header in view of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Friday, October 11.
