Kudus charged by English FA following red card

Mohammed Kudus has been charged by the Football Association (FA) following his red card in West Ham’s 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Ghana international was sent off for pushing both Pape Matar Sarr and Micky van de Ven in the face during the closing stages of the match on Saturday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Kudus now faces a minimum three-game ban, as the FA confirmed he has been charged with “acting in an improper manner and/or using violent conduct” after the incident.

Both Tottenham and West Ham have also been charged for failing to control their players’ conduct during the match. Kudus and both clubs must respond to the FA charges by Thursday.

The incident unfolded when Kudus appeared to kick out at Van de Ven, leading to a melee. After initially being booked, Kudus was sent off after a VAR review, which advised on-field referee Andrew Madley to reassess the situation at the pitchside monitor.

Kudus will miss crucial fixtures against Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, and Everton, adding pressure on new West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui, who is already facing scrutiny over a slow start to the season.
