NDC urges Muslims to reject Bawumia over economic hardships

Deputy Director of the Inter-Party and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Mary Awusi, has urged Muslims not to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by Dr Mahamadu Bawumia in the upcoming elections, citing the NPP’s elephant symbol as potentially offensive to Islamic values.

Speaking at an event organized by the NDC Women’s Wing at Old Tafo in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Awusi called on Ghanaians, particularly Muslims, to consider their living conditions when casting their votes.

She highlighted the rising cost of the Hajj pilgrimage under the current government as a reflection of the broader economic struggles facing the nation.

She encouraged voters to support the NDC in the December 7 general elections, asserting that the party is better equipped to tackle the country’s economic challenges.

Dr. Awusi also mentioned that the NDC has “two million strategies” to counter the NPP’s “one million strategies” aimed at winning the election.

Dr. Awusi called on NDC members to remain vigilant on election day and to protect the party’s votes to secure a decisive victory.

National Women’s Organizer of the NDC, Dr. Hanna Louisa Bissiw, echoed these sentiments, reaffirming the party’s determination to secure a win in the December polls.

Additionally, NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate for Old Tafo, Sahmudeen Mahamed Kamil, expressed confidence in the party’s chances and urged members to stay united and focused on victory.
