NPP does not deserve to be in gov't for the mess they've caused -Ofosu Ampofo

Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the immediate past National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticized the government’s economic policies, blaming them for the financial difficulties faced by many Ghanaians.

Speaking in Battor, North Tongu Constituency, during the NDC Vice-Presidential Candidate Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s Volta Regional campaign tour on Tuesday, Dr. Ofosu Ampofo described the current administration’s economic policies as “weapons of mass destruction.”

He argued that these policies have caused significant hardship and even fatalities. Citing the late Chief Executive Officer of KAMA Group of Companies, Mr. Michael Agyekum Addo, he noted that Mr. Addo had publicly spoken of enduring “excruciating hardship” due to the government’s poor economic management prior to his death.

“Dr. Bawumia’s policies are like weapons of mass destruction.

They have destroyed banks, collapsed microfinance institutions, and led to massive job losses.

We will not allow him to mislead Ghanaians again,” Dr. Ofosu Ampofo stated, emphasizing the alleged economic fallout under the leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the chair of the government’s Economic Management Team.

He further criticized Dr. Bawumia for shifting his focus from economic issues to digitalization, claiming that the government’s digitalization initiatives are built on infrastructure, including fibre optics, established during former President John Mahama’s administration.

Addressing the upcoming elections, Dr. Ofosu Ampofo highlighted the theme of trust in leadership, asserting that “the Presidential candidate of the NDC, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, reigns supreme as a leader that Ghanaians can trust.” He urged the electorate to vote decisively for Mr. Mahama in the presidential election and to support North Tongu’s parliamentary candidate, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, for his continued dedication to the constituency.
