Niger on Thursday, November 14 beat Sudan 4-0 in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series to throw themselves into contention as one of the qualifiers for the tournament.
The Menas had languished at the bottom of Group F since the start of the qualifiers until the win over Sudan.
Goals from Daniel Sosah, Youssouf Oumarou and Ousseini Badamassi gave the West Africans a convincing win over Kwesi Appiah’s side.
The win lifts the Nigeriens, who were playing away from home, off the bottom of the group to third, plunging the Black Stars to that position.
The result, meanwhile, comes as a booster for the Black Stars, who will play Angola on Friday in the other Group F game.
A win for Ghana in the match in Luanda will brighten their chances of making it to the continental showpiece in Morocco.
Ironically, the four-time champions are currently the only nation yet to win a game in Group F.
