Angola coach Pedro Goçalves has given a gloomy picture of the chances of the Black Stars in qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Goçalves’ side, who have already qualified for the continental showpiece in Morocco, will host the Black Stars on Friday at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in a Group F encounter.
The visitors need a win in their quest to qualify for the tournament for the 11th consecutive time.
But the struggles of the four-time champions have been compounded due to a loss in their last qualifier against Sudan.
The North Africans need only a draw in their last two games to make it to Morocco.
“While Ghana is undoubtedly a strong contender, their chances of qualifying are low to impossible at the moment,” Angola’s coach said on the sidelines of training ahead of their game against Ghana.
The 2023 AFCON quarter-finalists began the harm for the opponents after beating them 1-0 on a patchy Baba Yara Sports Stadium pitch.
Ghana will return home to host Niger three days after the Angola game.
