The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dismissed allegations that it is plotting with some elements in the military to rig the 2024 election.
The NDC’s National Communication Officer, Sammy Gyamfi at a news conference on Tuesday said the party was going to petition the Inspector General of Police over their fears there may be a ploy to steal the people’s mandate in this election.
But reacting to these allegations, the Deputy General Secretary of the NPP Haruna Mohammed said the claims by the NDC are false.
He insists the NDC is clutching at straws.
“The NDC clearly admits that they are losing the election, and they are finding every straw to hold on so that they tell supporters that this is the reason they lost the election. In 2016, 2020, they have made so many similar statements of us training people in places that we want to use to rig election and eventually, they went ahead to lose the election,” he said.
According to him, the NPP is not interested in some of these gimmicks but working towards winning the 2024 election.
“What we do know is that the military is not the Electoral Commission … I am not surprised that he came out to make this particular statement. It was completely a waste of Ghanaians’ time.
“The elections are won at the polling stations so if they are so much interested in playing the game, they should go down to the grassroots and make sure they get their vote. I am very confident that the NPP is going to win the election no matter the lies and propaganda put out there,” he said.
