Infrastructure, education among 7 issues to determine outcome of 2024 elections – Kwakye

The Director of Research at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), Dr John Kwakye has identified seven key factors which will determine the outcome of the 2024 general elections.

The areas include education, infrastructure and climate issues.

In a post on his X page, he said “Seven top issues that would determine the outcome of the upcoming election are: 1. the economy 2. corruption 3. unemployment 4. infrastructure 5. education 6. climate 7. cultural & moral values.”

Dr Kwakye in a separate post urged Ghanaians to reject leaders who have the idea of borrowing to develop the country.

He argues that Ghana has enough natural resources to ensure the needed development across the country. Therefore, only leaders who are ready to utilise the nation’s resources for development should be considered in the polls.

“Ghanaians must reject leaders with a borrowing mindset. We have enough resources here at home. We don’t need to go out and borrow. We should accept only leaders prepared to enable Ghana derives maximum benefit from its natural resource wealth,” he said.

Ghanaians go to the polls to elect a president and Members of Parliament to steer the affairs of the country for the next for years starting January 7, 2025.
