Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum has been relieved of his role as member of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Asante Kotoko.
The decision was taken as part of an overarching process of restructuring the Committee.
It was taken following a directive by the club’s life patron, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
“This decision has been made to allow Dr. Ogum to fully dedicate his efforts to his primary role as Head Coach, with a continued focus on leading the team to success on the pitch and advancing the club’s sporting objectives,” a statement from Asante Kotoko on Monday, November 25 said.
The latest turn of events comes in the wake of a win for Asante Kotoko in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League after a four-game losing streak.
According to reports, Dr Ogum would have had a tough time retaining his role as Head Coach of the Porcupine Warriors if he had lost the latest match against Aduana Stars FC in Dormaa.
Therefore, the 2-0 win on Sunday gives Dr Ogum another shot at convincing the managers that he can do the job.
”This strategic adjustment is part of Asante Kotoko’s ongoing commitment to optimizing the club’s operations and ensuring alignment with the vision set forth by Manhyia,” the statement continued.
”The IMC remains resolutely focused on providing strong, effective leadership, enhancing administrative processes, and offering unwavering support to the playing and technical teams.”
The club said they remain united in their pursuit of excellence “and together, we will continue to work toward achieving sustained success for the club”.
