Bawumia will enhance Free SHS policy – NAPO assures

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Vice Presidential candidate for the 2024 elections, has pledged to assist NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in protecting and enhancing the Free Senior High School policy should they win the upcoming elections.

At an engagement at Asanteman Senior High School in Kumasi on November 26, as part of their 70th anniversary celebrations, Dr. Prempeh, touted the policy’s impact since its implementation.
NAPO, who has been credited for his role in the implementation of the policy expressed the hope that under a Dr Bawumia government, a lot more would be done to consolidate the gains made. He emphasised the critical role these educational initiatives play in the nation’s development and the future of its youth.

“Dr. Bawumia and his administration will be dedicated to ensuring that every Ghanaian child has access to quality education, regardless of their financial background.

The Free SHS and TVET programmes are the cornerstones of the country’s educational sector and as such Dr Bawumia’s administration will continue to invest in and enhance these initiatives to provide better opportunities for our young people,” he promised.
The running mate highlighted several upcoming measures aimed at strengthening these programmes, including increased funding, improved infrastructure, and the introduction of new curricula designed to meet the demands of the modern job market.

At the Asanteman Senior High School he promised to assist and improve infrastructure in the school to accommodate more students and teachers. He appealed to the students to learn hard to climb the academic ladder.

On his part, the headmaster of the school, Nathaniel Antwi Asamoah, emphasized the school’s commitment to quality education and its role in shaping future leaders. He also highlighted the contributions of Dr. Mathhew Opoku Prempeh towards inclusive and equitable quality education.

Member of Parliament for Bantama, Francis Asenso Boakye noted that the schools have benefited immensely from the NPP government and will continue to do more to improve quality of education.

He urged the students to take their education seriously as that is the only way they can achieve anything in life.
