Asante Kotoko set for home return after NSA directive

Asante Kotoko are set to return to their home ground, Baba Yara Stadium, for the rest of the Ghana Premier League season following a directive by the National Sports Authority (NSA).

Kotoko moved from their traditional home ground in September after the NSA closed down the ground for maintenance work following Ghana’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola.

Due to the uneven nature of the pitch, coupled with the facility failing to meet CAF’s category 3 standard, the NSA decided to shut down the ground in a bid to prepare it for Ghana’s October international games.

However, the Black Stars settled in Accra to see out the rest of their 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

Kotoko, meanwhile, are yet to play at the Baba Yara Stadium this season, temporarily adopting the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium as their new home ground for league games.
Since the start of the season, Kotoko have played six games at the Len Clay Sports Stadium, winning three, losing two, and drawing one.

Kotoko’s return to the Baba Yara is seen as a significant boost for the team, who are preparing to square off against fierce rivals Accra Hearts of Oak when the Ghana Premier League returns from its brief hiatus.

However, the Porcupines will have a feel of their home ground before the mouthwatering tie when they take on Future Stars in the MTN FA Cup at the weekend.
