The Electoral Commission has announced plans to reprint ballots meant for the Berekum West and East constituencies in the Bono Region.
According to the Commission, this has become necessary due to identified errors in some ballots printed for the presidential election.
“The Electoral Commission has identified some discrepancies in some serial numbers on Presidential ballot papers for the Berekum West and Berekum East Constituencies in the Bono Region. In Berekum West, the serial numbers on the ballots are different from that on the counterfoil. It is made up of seven (7) of the one hundred (100) booklets and one (I) of the twenty-five (25) booklets for the Presidential Ballot Papers,” a letter signed by Deputy Chairman of the EC in charge of Operations, Samuel Tettey wrote in a letter dated November 28.
The letter addressed to the presidential candidates further explained that “Berekum East has inconsistent and duplication of serial numbers. This is made up of three (3) of one hundred (1oo) booklets, one (1) of fifty (50) booklet, one (1) of twenty-five (25) booklet whose serial numbers do not follow sequentially and two (2) of ten (10) booklets having the same serial numbers.
The Commission said it will “submit the above ballot papers to the Ghana Publishing Company (Assembly Press) for reprint.
The EC therefore requested that “Political Parties and Independent Presidential Candidates are to provide two (2) representatives each to observe the process on Friday, 29th November, 2024 at 10:00 am at the premises of the Ghana Publishing Company (Assembly Press), Accra.”
