Shortfalls in Volta Region ballot papers: Don’t sweep cause of avoidable error under the carpet – NDC to EC

The Director of Elections of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Edward Omane Boamah has urged the Electoral Commission to disclose the exact reasons for the shortfalls in ballot papers meant for the Volta Region.
Dr Boamah said information available to him indicate that the shortfall was caused by the Electoral Commission.
“”Following the release of the letter titled, ” SHORTFALL ON BALLOT PAPERS” by the Electoral Commission of Ghana, we have engaged our dedicated #EAGLEEYES team that observed the printing and bagging process at Act Commercial printing house.

The brief from our team makes it abundantly clear that the Electoral Commission of Ghana has committed another avoidable error. Our agents make it clear to us that the ballot statistics submitted to Act Commercial (print house) were complied with. This being the case, we call on the Electoral Commission not to sweep the cause of this avoidable error under the carpet,” Dr Boamah wrote in a Facebook post on November 29.

He expressed worry that such discrepancies would occur in no other place than the NDC’s ‘World Bank’, “That Volta region, our stronghold, is experiencing such avoidable errors in series is not lost on us…The Electoral Commission must explain to Ghanaians how the shortfall occurred. I shall personally attend the IPAC meeting today in order to bring the plight of Volta region to the front burner this morning at 11 am.”
On November 28, the Electoral Commission announced plans to rectify shortfalls identified in ballot papers for some constituencies in the Volta Region.
According to the Commission, the shortfall will be addressed at the print ing house where they were identified- Acts Commercial.

“The Electoral Commission has identified some shortfalls on Presidential and Parliamentary ballot papers for the Keta, Ketu North, Ho Central, Hohoe, and Ho West Constituencies in the Volta Region,” a letter dated November 28 and signed by the Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations, Samuel Tettey, read in part.
